Many companies like to offer a Christmas gift to their best employees, customers and friends as a reward for a good year of work. But it’s not always easy to give something that is actually good and makes everyone happy. Typical gifts often accumulate and end up forgotten in drawers. But we can’t forget that we’re in Portugal, and if there’s one thing that never goes wrong, it’s good wine.
MorValley, a family brand from Douro, has the ideal suggestion to offer to all workers in a company, but which can also be used at corporate events, weddings or even as a birthday or Christmas gift. This is because the bottle of Douro Reserva Magnum can be customized with a name, logo, image or phrase.
And forget ordering on websites or those long walks to find labels in stores. The entire process is carried out exclusively by the producer, José Carlos Pinto, 54 years old, and the brand’s products are not found in any supermarket or wine store.
“It’s my availability that sets MorValley apart. I have customers who call me at midnight to say they really liked the wine. This is my goal. Connecting people to the producer”, he explains to NiT.
A customization order of up to five bottles costs €39 per unit, but the price of each label drops if we buy a larger quantity. This red wine combines three different grape varieties — Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional —, which give it a ruby color and an intense aroma, where wood is noticeable, but notes of red fruits and spices predominate.
The connection to the Douro vineyards is part of José’s identity, the son of grape producers. It was at the age of 27 that he took what his parents already had and turned it into a wine business. Now, the main goal is to show this project to Portugal and the world. And one of the new features that will help to do so is the Rogador cardboard box.
“It’s an option for those who want to get to know the Douro and its grape varieties”, says José. This is because the cardboard box consists of three wines, delivered in a wooden box. Each one is produced with a typical grape variety from this region: Touriga Nacional, Old Vines and Touriga Franca.
